Summer 2015 Makeup Favourites

Good morning everyone, hope you all enjoyed your Labour Day Long Weekend! Exciting news, I moved into my new apartment in Vancouver this weekend!:D Hence why I’ve been a little MIA on LC. My roomie, Bailey, and I are slowly getting settled in, and I can’t wait to have all the furniture and my room (AKA closet) set up!! Also, I went to the Aritzia Warehouse Sale at Canada Place on Friday. Did any of you go as well? It was a zoo in there and I only had an hour to shop, so next year I’ll plan to get there earlier :P They had so much cute stuff, but I only allowed myself 1 thing- some Babaton white shorts..maybe I’ll end up doing a post with them!:)

Anyways, I have a beauty post today for you ladies! I have been LOVING me some new makeup products the last couple of months, and I really wanted to share with you my top 5!:) Let’s jump straight to it!

If you’ve been following me for a while now you’ll know that I have a MAC lipstick addiction, and the one I’ve been reaching for almost everyday is MAC Whirl! ($19) It was released May of this year in The Matte Lip Collection with 21 other lipsticks. It’s a gorgeous rosy brown colour with a warm undertone, and it’s amazing for making your lips look fuller! It really is the perfect Kylie Jenner lip. Definitely give it a try next time you’re in MAC!

I had always heard good things about the Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer ($10-15) and I decided to finally purchase it at the beginning of summer. (I just bought my 2nd one last week!) My reaction to it was..”Why didn’t I discover this earlier?!” I use it to brighten up my under eye area, and I blend it in with a damp beauty blender. The consistency is smooth and lightweight, making it the perfect everyday concealer for me! I have heard some people with dry skin saying that it creases under their eyes though, so just a heads up!

I never thought there would be a day I would start using a liquid liner but it’s happened! The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner ($23) is the bomb and my new bff! The brush isn’t flimsy so it’s super easy to apply. Plus it dries so quickly you don’t have to worry about smudging. Makes a cat eye a breeze!;)

I am obsessed with the Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette! ($55) The lady at Sephora recommended it over the other palettes, and I’m so glad she did! The colours are soft, matte and pigmented, a little product goes a long way. There are 3 lighter shades I use to highlight under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, and occasionally under my contour. With the 3 contour/ bronzer shades I shape my face applying it on the hollows of my cheek, jaw and hairline. The contour shades have a greyish undertone which is ideal for contouring! Just make sure you don’t over apply because it can give you that ‘muddy’ or ‘dirty’ look. Test it out at Sephora next time you’re in to see if it’s the right palette for you:)

If you’re looking for an affordable yet amazing makeup setting spray, you can’t go wrong with the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Spray! ($12-16) I am super impressed with this product! My makeup still looks flawless at the end of the day after spraying 4-5x all over my face. Remember, a good primer and foundation is what’s going to help your makeup last longer as well.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for reading, until next time – Mitra

  1. Great post, girl! I’ve been using that Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer for a couple years now and I found that it’s such a popular product for a reason! I use it the exact same way you do, blending it with a damp Beauty Blender. I also use it as a highlighter for my T-zone on days I don’t feel like doing a full face of foundation. I find there’s nothing really special about the formula but the sponge is what everyone loves — it just feels so nice on the skin!

I can’t believe you found Whirl! Every time I go to any MAC location it’s always sold out. Great find, girl!

    • Thanks for the comment Jes!:) I know it’s incredible hey?! I also really love the MAC Pro Longwear concealer for more of a heavier coverage. No way, I guess I was lucky! Hope you can get your hands on it soon! xx
