Hey everyone, hope those of you in Canada had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! I went home to Victoria for the long weekend to visit my family and friends!:) While I was there, I was able to squeeze in a quick shoot with my sister- she’s the best!
Today’s post is going to be all about the Turtleneck. Personally, my memories of turtlenecks goes back to when my mom would dress me in them all throughout the 90’s. To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of them back then, but today I’ve grown to love ’em! They are classy, simple and chic when styled the right way. Not to mention extremely warm!:)
This staple is literally everywhere this season! Don’t shy away from this trend, as there’s a style out there for everyone. If you’re not a fan of the restricting feeling around your neck opt for an Over-Sized Knit Turtleneck with a slouchy neckline. If you love to layer, try the Turtleneck Poncho, where you can still wear a long sleeve underneath. Try the Sleeveless Turtleneck shirt, sweater or dress if you tend to get hot easily (plus they are super adorable)!
Okay so now you’ve selected your turtleneck, you’re probably wondering what to wear it with. I love the look of a fitted turtleneck paired with a long pencil skirt, trouser or skinny jean. Try styling it with a longline tailored vest as well, and trust me when I say you’ll be getting compliments all day on your outfit ;) If you prefer a slouchier fit for your turtleneck, grab some faux leather leggings or ripped boyfriend jeans. As you can see there are so many styles and ways to rock this trend!
I styled my plain black turtleneck with my nude duster and white jeans for a clean and minimal look. I am all about the neutrals this season! I’ll have to stock up on some more turtlenecks this Fall/ Winter for sure! Next time you go shopping, keep an eye out for them too! -Mitra xx
