How To: Style a Shirt Dress

Hi everyone, hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I went to Vancouver to meet up with some friends who I lived with in Japan last year! It was so nice to catch up over lunch and a little bit of window shopping (okay I lied..I bought some things), which you will be seeing in future posts! I am SO excited to show you guys!!:D

Anyways, tonight I wanted to share with you a “How To” post where I show you how I styled my new shirt dress! Shirt dresses are a great piece to throw on when you want easy, comfy and chic! You can find them in all sorts of styles, lengths, colours and prints, you’re bound to come across one that suits you!

I love everything about mine from Dynamite, it is the perfect weekend dress! The simple gold detailing on the zipper and drawstring adds a little glam so I decided not to accessorize as much. Less is more in this case..I wanted the dress to do the talking!;) If your shirt dress doesn’t have a drawstring you could try belting it. I recommend a thin belt if your dress has a pattern, and a thicker belt if it’s a solid colour. Or leave it loose fitting – depending on the silhouette – but make sure it doesn’t swamp your body and make you look boxy. I like them best when the fabric falls nicely on the body :)

When it comes to layering, you can’t go wrong with a denim jacket to complete the look! It keeps the look casual and chic for day time. For shoes, I’m wearing some nude wedges, but a strappy sandal or an open toe ankle boot would be a cute alternative! I hope you enjoyed tonight’s post, and you got a little inspo for your next outfit!;) Thanks for reading and I’ll talk to you soon!xx
